Anyone can fly a drone. But not everyone is allowed and has the knack for it.
The drone pilots of SKYLINE ATLAS on the fly have all legal requirements, provisions, and insurances to be able to officially carry out commercial drone flights for companies and the administration. These include, for example, commercial drone insurance, copter training with the German Air Traffic Control as well as a special permit from the Darmstadt Regional Council, which also officially permits drone flights:
- in the city of Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area,
- next to and over rivers like the Main,
- next to and over railway lines,
- next to and over motorways such as the A3, A5 and A661,
- at airports (after prior approval by air traffic control),
- next to and over residential areas.

All of these experienced copter pilots are certified and authorized to perform drone flights in Frankfurt.

It usually depends on the weather. During optimal weather conditions, customers usually receive the film material within 12 hours after the flight (without post-processing) or within 72 hours (including post-processing).
The prices for the drone recordings are based on the type and scope of the task at hand and are usually at least several hundred euros for the pure creation of the recordings, plus post-processing. Please contact one of our listed drone pilots.
Please note that for flights over 50 meters in Frankfurt, special permits that are subject to a fee must be applied for from the authorities, which can quickly add up to several hundred euros. In this case, the drone pilot informs the client well in advance of the flight. These costs vary depending on the municipality and city. An order requires prior confirmation by the initiator of the flights. The locations for drone flights are usually within a radius of 50 kilometers from Frankfurt.
For small drone missions, the SKYLINE ATLAS offers a drone flight at a fixed price.
The timing always depends on the task at hand and the weather conditions. In case of bad weather there is no flying. In any case the responsible local regulatory authority will be informed before the flight.
If the aerial photographs require an ascent permit from a third party (e.g. the city of Frankfurt), you can expect at least two to three weeks lead time from the authorities. The speed of the authority for the inspection cannot be influenced from the outside.
If no ascent permit from a third party is required, we can carry out a drone flight within 72 hours. In very urgent cases, a drone flight is also possible within a few hours (100 EUR additional costs).
SKYLINE ATLAS already has a bundle of ascent permits for various locations in the Rhine-Main area through its network of real estate owners. These locations can always be used by clients free of charge.
Usually we use drones from DJI (e.g. Mavic Air or Mavic 2). As a rule, video recordings are made in 4K (Ultra HD: 3840×2160 pixels at 30 fps) and photographs in 4056×3040 pixels. Polarizing filters are used to improve quality.
