The Atreeum office ensemble is being built on the former site of the Glasbau Hahn company, between Hanauer Landstraße and the container handling area in Frankfurt’s Ostend district. OFB-Projektentwicklung is building the property on the 5,000-square-meter site by 2024, designed by Frankfurt-based architects Meixner Schlüter Wendt. The new building complex, which is described by the environmental department as a lighthouse project, is to score points with sustainability and lots of greenery. In this context, the project developer speaks of a carbon dioxide-neutral building over its entire life cycle. After completion, a total of 8,448 square meters will provide around 570 workplaces.
In the ensemble, which has been certified by the DGNB with Gold, a photovoltaic system is to completely cover the basic demand for electricity for the heating and cooling system. In addition, gas heat pumps will provide the necessary heating and cooling energy. The facade is to be greened. Rainwater collected on the roofs will be used for irrigation.
The Atreeum is to be equipped with several roof gardens, courtyards and balconies, which will also be greened. On the roof gardens, a playground for sports activities is planned, and in the courtyards, the possibility for gastronomy is integrated. So-called workstations on the terraces of the building will make it possible to work or hold meetings outside. Furthermore, in addition to 219 underground parking spaces, most of which have charging connections for electric cars, bicycle rooms with showers have also been incorporated into the planning.
