Dubai International Airport

Dubai International Airport, commonly known as DXB, is the main international airport serving Dubai and one of the busiest airports in the world. It first opened in 1960 with a single runway and has since grown into a global aviation hub, connecting Dubai to over 270 destinations across six continents and served by approximately 100 airlines. The airport serves more than 92 million passengers annually and handles millions of tons of cargo each year, making it one of the largest international airports in both passenger and freight traffic.

The airport consists of three major terminals, with Terminal 3 being one of the largest airport terminals globally, covering over 1.7 million square meters and primarily serving Emirates Airline. This terminal alone can handle more than 43 million passengers each year. DXB has two main runways capable of accommodating the largest commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A380, and continues to expand to meet rising demand.

Dubai International Airport is located approximately five kilometers from Dubai’s city center and is well connected to the city via the metro, taxis, and major highways, ensuring convenient access for travelers, airport employees, and nearby businesses. Over the years, DXB has won numerous awards for its operational excellence, passenger experience, and efficiency. Its facilities include world-class lounges, extensive retail and duty-free shopping, on-site hotels, medical services, and dedicated cargo handling infrastructure, all contributing to its reputation as a leading global airport.

Emirates Airline, headquartered at DXB, operates a fleet of over 250 aircraft and uses the airport as its central hub, further solidifying Dubai’s status as a major global aviation and business center. The airport is a key driver of Dubai’s tourism and trade, supporting the city’s economy and connecting the emirate to markets worldwide. With ongoing expansion plans, including the development of additional terminals and runway enhancements, DXB continues to grow in capacity and maintain its role as one of the world’s most important international airports.
