The functionally delimited urban area of the city region comprises the following administrative units:

- City of Offenbach am Main (OF)
- Main-Taunus-Kreis County (MTK)
- Hochtaunuskreis County (HG)

The SKYLINE ATLAS records the construction activity of high-rise buildings in general for the core city of Frankfurt (F) and the directly adjacent cities of Offenbach (OF) and Eschborn (MTK) – since only these cities have sufficiently high buildings.
