Islands in the Sky - Therme Dubai

Therme Dubai, officially called Islands in the Sky, is set to become one of the most iconic destinations in the city’s future skyline. Rising 100 metres above Zabeel Park and designed by the renowned architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro, this vertical wellness resort combines nature, leisure, and culture in a way never before seen in the Middle East. The project was approved in early 2025 under the patronage of Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is a key part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai 2040 Master Plan.

When completed, Therme Dubai will welcome up to 1.7 million visitors each year. The 500,000 square foot complex will feature lush botanical terraces, cascading pools, and sweeping views across the city. It will be divided into three main zones, each with its own character and purpose. The Play Zone will offer a vibrant waterpark with 15 slides, family attractions, and interactive art. The Relax Zone will provide thermal and mineral pools, steam rooms, and treatments in a peaceful setting. The Restore Zone will bring together saunas, spa therapies, and bathing traditions from around the world, from Roman to Japanese styles.

A highlight of the resort will be the largest indoor botanical garden in the world, home to more than 200 plant species and enhanced by three dramatic waterfalls, each reaching 18 metres in height. Guests will also enjoy a 4,500 square metre pool complex that blends indoor areas with outdoor terraces.

Sustainability is at the heart of the design. The resort will recycle up to 90 percent of its thermal pool water, use clean energy for the majority of its cooling and fresh air systems, and employ low‑carbon construction materials. Alongside its wellness and leisure features, Therme Dubai will host cultural events, art installations, and fine dining, including a Michelin‑starred restaurant.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the grand opening planned for 2028. When complete, Therme Dubai will be more than a wellness resort, it will be a new cultural landmark and a global reference for urban wellbeing.
