Lyoner Strasse 19 is a 62-meter-high residential high-rise in Frankfurt’s Lyoner Quarter district. Built in the 1960s as a pure office building, it was extensively revitalized in 2010 and converted into a modern residential high-rise. It was thus one of the pioneering projects in the urban development transformation of the former office district Niederrad into the residential district Lyoner Quartier that is developing today.

After the office building had stood empty for several years, it was first completely gutted and stripped back to its supporting structure. The second step was to convert it into a residential building and to add three more stories to the existing building. A final staggered floor marks the top of the new residential tower. Due to the square floor plan and the removal of two elevators, sanitary facilities as well as other infrastructure could be built into the new residential building.

The interiors of the apartments

The high-rise residential building Lyoner Strasse 19 has 98 apartments of various sizes on a floor area of almost 10,000 square meters. The cut-in loggias of the corner apartments and the white parapets in the facade architecturally illustrate the transformations into a residential building. The plans for the conversion were drawn up by Stefan Forster Architects, and the client was Dreyer Vierte Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH.
