The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is driving the future of energy with advanced and innovative technologies in electricity and water production, transmission, and distribution. This approach supports Dubai’s vision of becoming a global hub for clean energy and a green economy.

The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050 set the goal of generating 100% of the city’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050. To achieve this, DEWA is developing the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in multiple phases.

When completed, the solar park will have a total capacity of 5,000MW, using both photovoltaic panels, which turn sunlight directly into electricity, and concentrated solar power technology, which stores heat to produce electricity even at night. The project will help reduce carbon emissions and support Dubai’s aim to become a global leader in clean energy and sustainability.

Construction began in 2013 and new phases are added regularly. The park is expected to provide electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes and save millions of tons of carbon dioxide every year. It is managed by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, which works with international partners to bring advanced technology to the site.
