Nextower is a high-rise building standing at a height of 136 meters (446 feet). The building is part of the Palaisquartier complex, which was built between 2004 and 2010 on the Grosse Eschenheimer Strasse in the city center. Palaisquartier consists of four buildings: a reduced reconstruction of the baroque Thurn und Taxis, the Nextower office building, the 99 meter-high Jumeirah Frankfurt Hotel, and the MyZeil shopping center.
The design for Nextower comes from the Frankfurt architectural office KSP Engel und Zimmermann (today KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten). In a slightly deconstructivist style, it has kinked facades made up of matte shimmering aluminium and glass. Nextower has a total area of 48,000 square meters and 32 floors. In the lower floors, you will find the lobby and several conference rooms, while on the fourth floor there is direct access to the shopping center MyZeil. At a height of 90 meters, there are two roof terraces, which are not open to the public. Nextower was designed higher than originally declared in the zoning for this area, because the engineering floors were hardly visible when built-in to the tower (these “do not count” for reaching the final height).
Nextower was opened in the autumn of 2011, the first tenants being a law firm and an advisory company.
